1. Know Your Currency Before Visiting Bermuda

The official currency of Bermuda is the Bermuda Dollar (BMD), but if run out of BMDs don’t worry. The US Dollar can be used interchangeably throughout the island and the currency rate is on par with US Dollars.

2. Should You Buy a Travel Adaptor Before Your Bermuda Trip?

Bermuda’s electrical current is 110 V, 60 Hz AC. US and Canadian travelers are in luck! Two-pronged plugs are in use across the island, so your appliances will work without adapters. European travelers will have to buy a travel adapter for their devices.

3. Consider the Temperature Before Your Bermuda Vacation

Bermuda is known for its subtropical climate, meaning the days can be quite warm and humid. Packing a hat and light clothing will help you stay cool. Despite the warm days, the evenings can get quite cool, so bring a few layering options for nights on the beach.

If you’re traveling in summer, remember that August is the hottest month in Bermuda. Temperatures average at 82°F and, by night, go to 79°F. The coldest month is February, with an average temperature of 64°F and lows of 61°F. October is the wettest month, so bring waterproof jackets and an umbrella!

Bermuda’s sun is strong, and its sandy beaches make for perfect tanning conditions, so remember to bring sunscreen and apply it regularly. No one wants sunburn on their first day of vacation!

4. Choose Your Transport for Your Bermuda Trip

Bermuda is a small island, so distances between places are easy to navigate, making it easy to explore the whole island in a short amount of time. The main modes of transportation in Bermuda are by public bus, ferry, or scooter, depending on your preference.

While the buses are reasonable in cost, many routes stop around 7pm, so keep this in mind if you’re planning a night out. Taxis can be pricey, but they’re essential for travel in the evening.

5. Budgeting Your Bermuda Vacation

Bermuda can be expensive to visit, depending on the activities you choose and where you stay. It’s important to budget accordingly and make sure you prioritize your must-see activities.

That said, there are plenty of ways to keep the cost down on your vacation. There are plenty of Airbnb options and low-cost rentals to stay in across the island. Booking early can help reduce your spending, particularly if you visit in the low seasons between March and April.

6. Think About Flights for Your Bermuda Vacation

It’s easier to get to Bermuda than ever before, with many US airports and European airports offering direct flights. Popular connections include New York (JFK or LGA), Miami (MIA), Charlotte (CLT), Washington, DC (DCA or IAD), Philadelphia (PHL), and Chicago (ORD).

7. Make Sure Your Documents Are Ready for Your Bermuda Trip

Travelers to Bermuda do not require a visa to enter the country. However, you must make sure that your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your date of country exit. Travelers from the UK, for example, must book accommodation before they arrive.
