Soak up the Sun on Bermuda’s Beaches

Of course, Bermuda’s beaches are its main draw. While home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, many of these are free to access year-round. The most iconic is Horseshoe Bay Beach, where you’ll often find throngs of tourists (which is one of the reasons why we avoid Horseshoe Bay Beach).

But there are numerous others that are just breathtaking, such as Warwick Long Bay, Jobson’s Cove, Church Bay, and Tobacco Bay. Simply bring your towel and sunscreen and soak up the blissful scenery! If you’d like to do a bit of snorkeling, bring your own mask and snorkel as you’ll often find these waters teeming with fish and coral.

Dive into Blue Hole Park

Hidden in Hamilton Parish, Blue Hole Park is like a natural playground carved into limestone. This 12-acre park is a labyrinth of trails, pools, and caves, with the star of the show being the Blue Hole. Amid the lush mangroves, this expansive turquoise pool emerges, beckoning you in for a refreshing swim! Of course, you can also admire this beauty from the viewpoint. With no entry cost, Blue Hole Park is not only free but magical to enjoy.

Join a Free Walking Tour of Hamilton

The capital city of Hamilton is best appreciated on foot — and in the company of the city’s town crier! On a free walking tour of Hamilton, Ed Christopher will guide you through Bermuda’s history. Having been Hamilton’s town crier for 30 years, he possesses a wealth of knowledge you won’t want to miss out on. These tours take place daily from Monday to Friday at 10:30 am, between April and December. While free, gratuities are always accepted!

Walk on the Wild Side at Spittal Pond Nature Reserve

Away from the city streets, Spittal Pond Nature Reserve offers a peaceful retreat. Spanning 64 acres, it’s a haven for numerous bird species, especially during migration season. While birdwatchers will find themselves in heaven here, nature lovers will also feel right at home. Along the trails, you’ll pass through a variety of habitats and notable sights, including the Portuguese Rock, which is thought to be evidence of the earliest human inhabitants of the island, and the unique limestone formation known as the “Checkerboard”.

Admire the Unfinished Church

If you’re interested in more iconic attractions, make your way to St George’s. Here, you’ll find the Unfinished Church, which stands as one of Bermuda’s most photogenic and atmospheric landmarks. Work began on the structure in the 1870s, but a mix of disagreements, funding challenges, and storm damage meant the church was never completed. Today, its weather-worn stone arches and roofless nave create an open-air ruin that’s utterly breathtaking. There’s little wonder why it’s on our list of Amazing Things To Do in St. George’s, Bermuda!

Explore the Bermuda Railway Trail

Stretching across the island, the Bermuda Railway Trail follows the former railway line that once linked the east and west ends. Today, it’s one of Bermuda’s most scenic walking and biking routes. Spanning 18 miles and traversing through forests and along the coastline, the Bermuda Railway Trail allows you to truly immerse yourself in the island. While you can cover more ground by bike, you can also choose to complete different sections at a time for a leisurely experience.

Have a Picnic at the Bermuda Botanical Gardens

Located in Paget Parish, the Bermuda Botanical Gardens offer 36 acres of natural beauty that are completely free to explore. Enjoy a stroll among the exotic blooms and winding paths, or bring a picnic that you can indulge in on the shaded lawns. Discover endemic plants, engage your senses at the fragrant sensory garden, or admire the Double Fantasy sculpture, which honors John Lennon’s visit to the gardens and the creative inspiration it gave him.
