Check the Entry Requirements for Visitors to Bermuda
When it comes to entry requirements, most travelers can expect an easy, seamless process. Generally speaking, visitors from North America, the EU, and the UK do not require a visa for tourist trips.
At the time of writing, US citizens must present a passport with validity that covers entry into Bermuda and re-entry into the United States. However, entry requirements are slightly different for visitors from the UK. British citizens must have a passport valid for the duration of their stay and with enough space for entry and exit stamps. In addition, they may also be asked to show proof of an onward or return ticket and proof of accommodation in Bermuda at border control.
These two examples underline the importance of checking the latest information on entry requirements for your home country before traveling to Bermuda.

The Official Language of Bermuda is English
No need to worry about language barriers in Bermuda! English is the official language spoken throughout the island, making communication easy for travelers. Whether you’re asking for directions or ordering at a restaurant, you’ll feel right at home with the friendly locals.
Bermuda also had a sizeable Portuguese community, so Portuguese is considered the island’s unofficial second language. You can even find it as a language option on ATMs. And this also means there are plenty of places serving delicious Portuguese cuisine!
Bermuda Has Incredible Food and Drinks
No trip to Bermuda is complete without sampling our island’s delicious and varied cuisine. The options on offer are as diverse as our population. In addition to the Portuguese influence mentioned above, you can also expect Caribbean, British, and West African touches to Bermudian food and drink.
It’s probably no surprise to learn that seafood dominates our dishes! Just some of the standout meals for your consideration include our famous fish chowder (made with local fish and spices for a taste of true island flavor), fish tacos, codfish cakes, grilled grouper, and spiny lobster.
And don’t forget some of our signature drinks! The Dark ‘n’ Stormy was invented here in Bermuda and owes its existence to Gosling’s dark and sultry Black Seal rum, first distilled here in 1806. And then there’s Bermuda’s Rum Swizzle, a fruity and refreshing creation that has become our country’s national drink!

Embrace Cultural Etiquette in Bermuda
As you explore Bermuda, it’s important to respect local customs and etiquette. Bermudians are known for their hospitality and warmth. In fact, Bermudians consider hospitality as somewhat of an art form! It’s a cultural norm to greet strangers with a polite nod, or a friendly “hello”, “good morning”, or “good afternoon”. For much the same reason, most locals will be happy to stop and answer any questions you may have, such as directions to an attraction or landmark.
When it comes to tipping, it’s common for gratuities to be included in your bill. But if you see that a tip is at your discretion, a customary amount is 15% of the total. And when tipping taxi drivers, at least 10% is a common courtesy.

Getting Around Bermuda Can Be Tricky
Bermuda’s land mass of 21 square miles (54 square kilometers) can be deceiving! Due to the geography of our island, the roads are linear, so it can take over an hour to get from one end of the island to the other. What’s more, cruise ships dock at the Royal Naval Dockyard near Somerset Village at one end of Bermuda. This is quite a distance from the main attractions, particularly without your own transportation. But that’s where we come in!
Our half-island and full-island tours in Bermuda offer the perfect blend of convenience and comfort. We can show you all the highlights, but without any worries about driving in a new destination or finding parking spots.
And best of all, our knowledgeable local guides provide an immersive experience that allows you to connect with Bermuda in a way you can’t when exploring independently.
